Brendan + Megan

Megan is a wedding photographer from Asheville, NC and I have been following her work since before I even considered picking up a camera. I have always looked up to her so much, so when she reached out to me to visit Asheville to photograph her little family and celebrate her sixth wedding anniversary with her husband Brendan, I was TOTALLY blown away. Terrified really.

But Megan, Brendan and their son Kitt were an absolute dream to photograph. It is obvious that these guys share an incredible partnership that they have carried into parenthood and it is a beautiful thing to witness both behind the lens and as a friend. After spending time at their home with Kitt, the three of us ventured up to Sam Knob for a perfect sunset. Thankful for such positive and talented mentors. Happy Anniversary Brendan + Megan!

Terry + Holly, Rocky Mountains

When Holly contacted me this summer about photographing her elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park I initially thought it was a scam. Even after speaking to her over the phone I still wasn’t sure if her and Terry were real people. It was just too good to be true. They were a REALLY cool couple, that wanted to have their wedding day all to themselves in one of the most beautiful places in the country. It wasn’t until a deposit was sent over that I actually accepted this was actually happening.

The very best part of elopements is that the couple gets to spend the entire day just hanging out and enjoying each other and the environment that they choose to be in. We started the day and their insane Airbnb in Boulder, Colorado. They had breakfast together, read the newspaper, and then helped one another get ready for the festivities. From there we drove into Rocky Mountain National Park to hike out to Dream Lake. As we were searching for the perfect location for them to exchange their vows the sun was slowly dipping behind the mountains. We found a private field at about 9,000 ft up with breathtaking views where Terry + Holly stood and committed their lives together. Myself, the videographer, and the Caribou as the only witnesses.

Post hike, we ventured into a candy shop in downtown Estes Park. Next door to the candy store was an outdoor empty bar playing live music. The band was starting to pack up for the evening, but we told them that Terry + Holly had just eloped on top of the mountains, so they were kind enough to stick around for one more song, where the newlyweds could share their first dance.

It was a dream come true, a perfect wedding day, with an amazing pair. Thank you Terry + Holly for thinking I was cool enough to be apart of it.

Brad & Chelsea

It had been nearly two decades since I had seen or spoken to Brad, (we went to elementary school together) when I received the email that he and his lovely bride Chelsea were planning a wedding at V3 Ranch in Breckenridge, CO. Their original photographer had an emergency and was unable to attend and their wedding was.....that weekend. It just so happened that out of the three available weekends I have this season, that was one of them. The next day myself and second shooter Wendy hopped in my car and headed out to the mountains.

Opportunities like this do not happen often, of course I want to shoot a wedding, for an old friend, in the MOUNTAINS. Even though the plan was spontaneous, working with Brad & Chelsea and their friends and families will be one of my favorite memories of the summer. This wedding very much reflects this couple, breathtaking and personable, both very kind individuals with big hearts, laid back-carefree attitudes and one very adorable puppy. I can see why it is so easy to leave a piece of your heart behind in Colorado. Between all of the love and the landscapes the start of Brad & Chelsea's life together was a very inspiring experience.

Now and always, Totally in Love with LOVE.
